Current Need: Shipping and Receiving Technician – Salem, OR

The Shipping and Receiving Technician oversees product flow in and out of the Salem Plant facility. Primary responsibilities include:

• Coordinate all incoming and outgoing product flow to meet the needs of internal departments such as Operations, Transportation, Sales, etc., as well for external customers, vendors, etc.
• Physically receive liquids and solids from commercial vehicles into specified tanks via vacuum hose and manual loading
• Operate transfer pumps to move products between tanks
• Test material samples for chemical and physical characteristics
• Order raw materials to prevent stock outs, plant shut down or slowdowns; monitor changes in plant production and adjust raw materials ordering accordingly
• Oversee, track, and ensure timeliness and accuracy of all paperwork between Shipping and Receiving and other departments – both internal and external; this may include POs for raw materials, receiving certificates, invoices, etc.
• Update plant logs to accurately track inventory, forecasts, purchases, etc.
• Review and approve invoices from outside vendors/haulers that are associated with shipping and receiving
• Obtain price quotes from various prospective haulers as needed
• Communicate with Transportation on a daily basis as to scheduling changes, mechanical breakdowns, etc., that would impact Shipping and Receiving
• Coordinate with local digesters for scheduling loads of waste water deliveries from Salem
• Help with maintenance of tank bottoms and solids removal as directed by Plant Manager
• Coordinate all trash and waste removal including cake dump bins, trash bins, cardboard recycling, etc.

Experience and Competencies

• 1+ years shipping and receiving experience strongly preferred
• Understanding of environmental hazards management/planning and remediation
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication, English literacy (multilingual applicants encouraged to apply)
• Working knowledge/application of MS Word/Excel
• Strong mathematical aptitude
• Adaptability
• Stress tolerance
• Forklift certification strongly preferred
• Must have valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable vehicle (Company reimburses mileage at a rate that meets or exceeds government requirements)

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, work in splayed positions, and carry materials up to 100 pounds daily
• Ability to tolerate intense smells of non-toxic bulk liquids and solids
• Ability to climb ladders
• Ability to work for long period outdoors in temperature/precipitation extremes typical of Oregon’s climate
• Absence of pulmonary, cardiovascular, psychological, and anatomic conditions that would interfere with the ability to wear a respirator
• Ability to work in varying noise levels, and to wear hearing protection as required
