Strict regulations in many cities mean that restaurant operators must pay close attention to how they use and dispose of used cooking oil. Fortunately, working with a vendor like SeQuential makes it easy to get rid of your used cooking oil. At SeQuential, we collect used cooking oil and refine it into clean-burning renewable fuel through a low-waste process. All you have to do is fill the provided container with your oil.

The first step of the used cooking oil recycling process, however, is determining what size of container you’ll need and how often we’ll will need to pump it out.

Sizing Your Oil Collection Container

Three key factors go into to determining what size cooking oil collection container is appropriate for your business:

  1. 1. City code: some cities limit or even prohibit outdoor waste receptacles in certain areas. At SeQuential, we’re very familiar with the different regulations in our service area and can help you ensure your container is compliant.
  2. 2. Space: whether your container must be stored indoors or out, SeQuential will provide a container that fits well in your space. If you’re unsure where to place the container on your premises, your account representative will be able to help you find a place that is easily accessible and minimally disruptive.
  3. 3. Oil Use: Your SeQuential representative will ask how you roughly how much oil you use each month. If you’re just opening your restaurant, we can use your oil purchase plans to estimate your monthly use and adjust later on.

Setting a Cooking Oil Collection Schedule that Works for You

Once we’ve placed a container at your site, we’ll set a collection schedule based on how quickly we expect it to fill up. Our goal is to collect your oil before the container is full, so you don’t have to worry about it. But we understand that the restaurant business can be unpredictable, and things can change with time. If you notice your container filling up faster than normal, let us know as soon as possible and we’ll schedule an extra pick-up. If you find you’re regularly using more or less oil than originally anticipated, we’ll adjust your pick-up frequency accordingly.
