Step 1: Collection
SeQuential’s starts in the kitchen – whether it’s in your home or in the dining hall at your local university – with used oils, fats and grease. We visit each of our partners to collect these materials and transport them to our production plant in Salem, Oregon.
Step 2: Refinement
After arriving at our refinery, the used cooking oil we collect undergoes a hydrotreatment, hydrogen is used in the refining process to separate the molecules and remove oxygen from the fatty acids that make up the fuel’s completely renewable raw material base. The outcome is a renewable diesel with a similar chemical composition to fossil diesel. Along the way, we take special care to comply with strict governmental regulations in order to ensure that our products deliver the high performance you deserve.
Step 3: Reuse of Additional Bioproducts
Aside from the renewable fuel itself, Neste reuses the byproduct of the HVO process to create a different renewable fuel for aircrafts.
